Trump urges Cracker Barrel to restore its original logo
Trump comments on backlash to restaurant chain’s rebranding
Former President Donald Trump weighed in on the controversy over Cracker Barrel’s recent rebranding, urging the company to return to its previous logo.
“Cracker Barrel should go back to the old logo, admit a mistake based on customer response (the ultimate Poll), and manage the company better than ever before,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “They got a billion dollars’ worth of free publicity if they play their cards right. Very tricky to do, but a great opportunity. Have a major news conference today. Make Cracker Barrel a WINNER again.”
The restaurant chain introduced a redesigned logo on Aug. 18, dropping the longtime “Uncle Herschel” character. The move sparked pushback from some customers, prompting Cracker Barrel to issue a statement acknowledging that it “could’ve done a better job sharing who we are and who we’ll always be.”
“Since 1969, Cracker Barrel has delivered heartfelt service, homestyle food and an unmatched dining experience,” the company said in its release unveiling the new logo. It described the updated design—its fifth revision—as one that remains rooted in the original barrel shape while adopting a cleaner look.
Despite the criticism, Cracker Barrel said most customers embraced the change. The company noted that 87% of survey respondents “loved or liked” the refreshed logo and emphasized that “Uncle Herschel remains front and center in our restaurants and on our menu.”
A spokesperson added that while a “vocal minority” expressed dissatisfaction, overall feedback from guests and employees has been “overwhelmingly positive.”
